Jaya's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 25, 2025

My grandma & I

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, welcome!

My name is Jaya Ong, and I am beyond honored to be a candidate of the team Strength Sisters for Student Visionary of the Year for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). I decided to lead this team in hopes of supporting families who have been impacted by cancer, similarly to me. In April of 2023, my family lost my grandmother--one of the most positive and kind people in my life--to a 17 year battle against cancer. Although she battled cancer throughout most of the time I was a part of her life, she was always at every dance performance, every piano recital, every school award ceremony--you name it. She never failed to love us with every part of her; even the parts that were exhausted from her fight with cancer. Her persistence and dedication fuel me to help many others in this fight.

Furthermore, I joined in honor of Simon, a teenage boy who unfortunately recently passed away due to cancer. Simon left a huge impact within the Glen Ellyn community through his kindness towards others and his bravery when it came to both taking on the world and battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Simon's legacy empowers me to change the lives of children like Simon and strive for a world without cancer.

My personal fundraising goal for LLS this year is $5,000.

By donating to LLS, you support all of the organization's endeavors, including funding innovative research, educating and supporting patients, and promoting state and federal legislation that benefits cancer patients. It is impossible for me to express how grateful I am for your support; every dollar you give to LLS helps cancer patients and their families and advances our mission to eradicate blood cancer.

LLS, a pioneer in the global battle to defeat cancer, is dedicated to helping blood cancer patients and their families more than any other organization in the world. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested approximately $1.3 billion in advanced cancer research globally thanks to its distinctive fundraising initiatives, which are essential to the organization's mission. Many blood cancer patients' chances of survival have doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled since the 1960s.

Putting blood cancer patients and their families first is the goal of the LLS's multifaceted mission, which includes advocacy, education, support, and research. We claim that "beating cancer is in our blood" at LLS for this reason.

Kindly make frequent visits to my website and forward its link to all those you know who would be willing to join with us in the battle against cancer. With our combined strength, passion, and resolve, together we can achieve a world without blood cancer.

Thanks to your support, my efforts will ensure this generation is the last to see cancer. On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

So proud of you, Jaya! Donating in honor also of my PT, a survivor of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Both she and your Mama Amy are two of the most generous and thoughtful people I know. Here’s hoping someday others won’t have to struggle as they did with cancer.
